1.Now that we have all read the book and finished the reading guide, we will be having a class discussion. This will include the following questions: a.Which pages made you laugh? b.Why are the illustrations important? c.What kind of research do you think the author and illustrator did to create this book?
2. Now that we have talked about how much research it took for them to write this book, we’re going to do some research of our own! I want you to click on the following links and figure out how much of this book is fact and how much is fiction. Once you find some facts about worms, see if they match what’s in the book. Fill out the following graphic organizer as you go.
3. Now that we have learned all about worms and the life they live, I want to know a little more about your life! You will write, and illustrate, a one week journal all about your week. I want you to tell me all the fun things you did and all the not so fun things you may have had to do. You will have one week to complete this assignment.
4. Lastly, at the end of the story, the worm says 3 reasons that he LOVES being a worm and then 3 reasons he doesn't like being a worm. I want you to think about your life and do the same thing! I want you to write down 3 reasons you like being a kid and 3 reasons you don’t like being a kid. Turn in as soon as you are done. This must be your last activity.
